The number 1 goal of the Zone Diet is to control those insulin levels. When you are maintaining stable blood sugar levels, you are in the "Zone." Ever think about the potential effect we could be (or are) having on the mindset of young girls? What's it like to grow up with the norm being that your mother clean and jerks instead of cleaning the house? What's it like to grow up hoping that you can beat your aunt at deadlifting? What's it like to grow up as a young girl really knowing that achievement matters more than appearance?
Some very interesting questions. Post thoughts to comments. Courtesy of Crossfit.com

"A panel of scientists, nutritionists, epidemiologists and physicians is working to revise the document known as the Dietary Guidelines for Americans, which is updated every five years," according to an article in the Washington post. The panel of 13, which was formed late last year is reviewing scientific data to established new food guidelines for 2010. Adam Drewnowski, an epidemiologist at the University of Washington's Center for Public Health Nutrition is recommending that the panel not only look at total calories and nutrients but, price per nutrient as well. Meaning how cost effective are the guidelines going to be. This approach has never been used in general food recommendation before and with the current state of the economy it makes a lot of sense.
