On the topic of the sugar free challenge, I wonder if we should consider an amendment to the rules. Consecutive days are great, but once you are off the bandwagon, there is little incentive to jump back on. (in fact, sugar binging at that point might be the desire)

Highest number of days would be more realistic and might keep us all going for longer. Wadya say?

Megan - glad you mentioned that. Somehow I missed that detail and thought that is what we were doing. Oh well, I do have a tendency to skim the details. How about two prizes????

No. The point is to break you of sugar. Sugar is addictive, some studies show more than cocaine. If you were going to rehab for a cocaine addiction, the councilor wouldn't say, "Hey do your best to stay off coke this month. If you mess up, go on a binder and then we'll start back up on Monday."

Cutting sugar out means, cutting sugar out. After a couple of days your body will start to feel much better without it. More energy, better sleep, better mental and physical performance. There will be some huge PR's this month for those who can stay committed to being sugar free.

It's only day 2, suck it up.

What have folks been eating? Specifically, breakfast, which is my hardest meal.

I've made eggs for two days, but I can't dot that for thirty. Yesterday I ate them over hard with ham and cheese heated, today I had them scrambled with tomatoes, mushrooms and onions.

    Thanks!

I understand your thoughts about detoxing, but I think that it is a lot harder and less incentive to get back on the bandwagon the way it is currently set up. Life isnt all or nothing. Isnt the point to get as many of us as possible to a better place?

But I am good either way, just wondered.

Linda, my favorite breakfast is a bowl of frozen mangos and straberries (thawed) with plan yogurt on it with a spoon of natural peanut or almond butter in it. You kind of get that sweet/salty contrast. If you try it, let me know what you think!

That sounds yummy. Do you prep the mangos and strawberries and freeze, or do you buy them from somewhere?

trader Joes has good prices for frozen fruit (and has a yummy Mangolicious mix of mango chunks, raspberries and blueberries). But the regular grocery stores generally have both organiz and non-organic versions of the frozen fuit.

"Breakfast" today: 90 minutes after I woke up I had a cup of coffee with a couple of tablespoons of grass-fed heavy cream.

Two hours later I had a bit of steamed broccoli with andouille chicken sausage and guacamole.

In the past I used to very often eat frozen berries for breakfast. I buy them mostly at Costco (they sell 3-4 pounds of mixed blueberries, blackberries & raspberries for $11 or so). I keep them in a large tupperware in the fridge so that they thaw after a day or two and are ready to eat. I used to eat them with cottage cheese, plain greek yogurt, nuts and/or coconut milk. These days I'm trying to keep my carbohydrate intake low, so I'm not eating the berries or any fruit very often.

NS - I've been eating eggs too and will get tired of them quickly. I love ham with eggs but had problems finding some without sugar. Went to Whole Foods yesterday and didn't have any luck.

I think I'm going to bake some mini-quiche "muffins" (no pastry shell in a muffin tin) with cheeses, onions, ham ?, mushrooms, and peppers. They keep well for a few days in the frig and you don't have to cook eggs each morning. Also make a great snack hot or cold.

I eat meat. Specifically.... steak, chicken, burger, pulled pork, bison, venison, turkey, sausage and bacon. Trader Joe's has great turkey meatballs that are pre-cooked. I don't have any in the house so I'm not sure if they have sugar. I hope not.

So the chicken patties, turkey bacon, sliced turkey and Trader Joes turkey meatballs in my fridge all have sugar. (the meatballs have corn syrup, sugar and breading!) Arg. An uninspired dinner of chicken parm with veggies...

Justin, where do you get the bison and the venison? I've been looking around for some but haven't had to much luck. And how do you cook it? I read somewhere cooking it in a crockpot is best because it keeps the meat from getting stringy and chewy, but that takes all day.

For everyone with breakfast questions, I eat eggs almost everyday but when I get sick of them I sub out half the eggs i use and add in chicken or steak or shrimp or any other animal protein I have (usually if i have any leftover meat from dinner the night before). I find this helps me cut down on how often I have to buy/use eggs and keeps me from getting bored of them.

You can get bison at giant, it's right next to the burger. You'll have to kill the deer yourself if you want venison. I use hte Bison as a burger or make with chilli. It's super lean so don't over cook it it you grill it.
