I am a realist. I can't give up sugar. I can minimize my sugar intake day to day, but I can't imagine giving it up entirely.

I'm just asking people try it for two weeks, no entirely.

Not unwilling to try, just concerned about the effect on the people around me...

ok. I'll consider it some more. It's not that I can't imagine giving it up for two weeks, it's more that as a lifestyle choice, I can't imagine giving it up.
I like to cook. I like to bake, no I love to bake. I don't necessarily need copious amounts of sugar, but none is a very small amount. I tend to be more in the family of everything in moderation, including moderation.
In addition, it's not that I can't imagine how it is done, to the contrary, I have seen how it is done, I'm not enamored with the lifestyle.

I like Justin's suggestion of giving it up for two weeks. After that, it'll probably feel fairly easy to avoid sugar at 90% of your meals, and then cut loose a bit for the other 10% or so.

I have been Zoning for a few months. I'm not too strict about it, but I try. I haven't had any real junk food in a while. Last night I ate a piece of cake and within two minutes I felt jittery. The frosting didn't even taste as good as I remember. It tasted like straight sugar. I still ate it, but it will be a while before I eat it again.

So, does honey count? I'm trying to figure out how exactly my day to day life would change. Mostly I don't think I eat that much sugar, but I'm sure I eat it at least 3-4 times a week.... And I love to cook and bake, I made the most amazing fruit ice creams this summer, I'm not real excited about a lifestyle where I don't enjoy that....

Doug,
Exactly my point. Once your body no longer craves the sugar...then you won't miss it. Prime example from the burpee hater.

Just a suggestion.
