So, I love beets, but they are such a tremendous mess, I never cook with them. Anyone have any advice?

Never had a beet in my life, probably won't.

I've given up pasta and replaced it with spaghetti squash. Now, I can still enjoyed my Italian dishes. I make a pretty mean sauce.

I love beets but I've never tried fixing them myself. Maybe raw on a salad might be the best way to go.

Great idea to replace one bad food with one good food. I do that a little now. If we are ordering fast food to bring home (yes I do eat some fast food), I've stopped ordering french fries and make a spinach side-salad instead. The kids almost always have a few fries left over, so I'll have 5-6 them and feel satisfied.

I also focus on 5-6 "super" foods each week to include in my meals. These usually include blueberries, red peppers, spinach, almonds, salmon, flax seeds, and broccoli. Somehow if these get included, everything else falls into place.

I sort of can't deal on a regular basis, but maybe as a more frequent treat.

Different topic - what's Team Chipper? I missed that workout.

    The team chipper was
8 exercises for 100 reps each
2 person team alternating 10 reps each.

So each person did a total of 400 reps.

I've discovered some good substitutes for my old store-bought marinara sauce, which it turns out was full of sugar. In the last couple of days I've started using canned tomatoes instead of pre-made marinara sauce. Yesterday I used a can of fire-roasted tomatoes with garlic. First I used it as part of a salad dressing, and later as a light sauce with steamed veggies. Easy and delicious! Each serving has a fraction of the sugar (and therefore the calories) of the pre-made sauce I've been buying at Costco.
