2011 Fall Paleo Challenge

Friday, 30 September 2011 02:20 Written by Rob K. 2 Comments

With summer behind us, fall upon us, and winter approaching quickly; it is time once again to push our performance to the next level by focusing on nutrition.  Ladies and gentlemen, without further ado I am proud to introduce the 2011 Fall Paleo Challenge.  We’ve had great success with these challenges in the past, and it’s time to step-up our level of commitment this year.  We are introducing a public point system to hold everyone accountable.  The rules of the challenge are as follows:

  • 1 point awarded for going the ENTIRE day eating 100% Paleo
  • 2 points taken away for eating anything not on the Paleo approved list

Bonus points:

  • 1 point/ week for attending 3 or more CFDR classes
  • 1 point for choosing a baseline variable to measure (limit 2 baseline measurements) and writing it on the Fall Paleo Challenge Board
    • Examples of baseline measurements:
      • “x” amount of weight
      • “x” amount of body fat (measuring device is in office)
      • “x” amount of inches (tape to measure is in office)
      • “x” amount of time on a benchmark workout performed during “Benchmark Week”
  • Baselines must be written up on the board no later than October 3rd.
  • 1 point for improving on baseline measurements at the end of the challenge
  • 5 points for keeping a food journal, picture or written (Journals must be submitted in hard copy.  One point earned per week.  A CFDR coach must verify Journal at the end of each week during the challenge).

Paleo approved list (list is comprehensive):

-Meat, fish, fowl, game

-Veggies, roots, tubers, bulbs

-Saturated animal fat, coconut, olive oil, olives, avocado

-Fruit, nuts, and seeds (recommended to limit these, but not necessary to earn points)

-Wine, clear liquors, ciders

The Challenge is five weeks long, beginning Monday, October 10th and ending Sunday, November 13th.  Participants, please sign-up on the white board in front of the office.  Each participant is responsible for tracking their daily points.  We expect everyone to be honest.  Points will be tallied and totaled on a weekly basis.

The winner will receive two free private sessions with Coach Rob.  These private sessions can be used to work on a specific skill the athlete wants to develop, perform a WOD they like, or choose a WOD you want Coach Rob to perform (With you or by himself.  Please be reasonable if you choose this).

Good Luck!
